הכל קשור
ביום שבת לפני ההפגנה הגדולה ראיתי אייטם בחדשות בו נפגשים מארגני המאהל, המחאה על הגבינות והדלק. הם ישבו יחד ולא ממש הצליחו למצוא נושא משותף לעבוד איתו. אני זוכר בחורה אומרת שאם היא תבקש מיושבי המאהל להפגין עם אנשי הדלק, יבואו אנשים מהמאהל ויגידו לה שלא לשם זה הם באו.
זה שבר את ליבי, אבל אני שמח שמאז נראה שלאט לאט אנשים הפנימו שדבר קשור בדבר. הכל קשור לזה שהמדינה משאירה מאחורה את מעמד הביניים (וכמובן גם את מי שמרוויח פחות) לטובת ציבורים נבחרים שהולכים ומתעשרים פה בצורה פשוט מגעילה.
אבל אפילו אלה שיושבים עכשיו במאהלים וברחובות ואומרים שהם מפגינים על יוקר המחייה, או למען חזרתה של מדינת הרווחה, מנסים לשמור את המאבק שלהם לא-פוליטי. מילא שאין לי מושג מה זה אומר, אבל חברים, הזמן לשים את הקלפים על השולחן הוא עכשיו.
מי שמצביע למששלה ימנית ליבראלית, שלא יתפלא אם היא מושכת לכיוון של שוק חופשי, ומחכה שהעושר יחלחל אליכם. תמשיכו לחכות שיחלחל. שהפתרונות שהם מציעים זה הפרטה, שוק חופשי, ולא פרוייקט ממשלתי לבנייה ציבורית.
אבל גם זה לא ללכת עד הסוף. כל כך הרבה שנים שהעדיפויות במדינה דפוקות. זה לא שחסר פה כסף. יש לנו המון כסף. זו הסיבה היחידה שלקח כל כך הרבה זמן עד שיהיה פה מרד. היה לנו נוח בזמן שחילקו משאבים של המדינה למשפחת עופר. היה לנו מספיק נוח כשהמדינה מעבירה לתקציב הבטחון באיזור ה70 מיליארד שקל בשנה. עדיין נוח לנו, למרות שמעל 60 מיליארד שקלים נשפכו על התנחלויות בשטחים מאז 67. הסתדרנו יפה עם זה שהחרדים במדינה לא עובדים, ולכן לא מייצרים, לא מגדילים את התוצר הלאומי, לא משלמים מיסים ומקבלים קצבאות (נכון לא כולם, אבל רבים). לא התלוננו כשהלכו להקים התנחליויות במקום לממן ספריה בקרית שמונה, במקום לתת משכורת שאינה משכורת רעב לעובדים הסוציאליים.
אני מצטער שאני מקשה עליכם. שאתם מעדיפים להיות לא פוליטיים, ולהשאיר את האוהל שלכם פתוח לימנים ולחרדים, שאני משום מה חושד שלא באים בהמוניהם. אבל העובדה היא שזה מאד פוליטי. זה פוליטי לאן הכסף הולך. כשבונים בתים באריאל, לא בונים מגורים לצעירים בתל אביב. כשממנים אוכלוסייה שלמה שלא תעבוד אלא תלך ללמוד תורה, אנשים חכמים ומוכשרים שאם היו גרים בברוקלין היו עובדים כמו גדולים, אז יש פחות בעוגה לכולם. סליחה שאני נטפל לחרדים. זה לא הפוקוס המרכזי, אבל זו דוגמה נוחה. באותה מידה אפשר לשאול למה יש כל כך הרבה עמותות ובתי ספר מיוחדים שלא מלמדים את תכניות הליבה, אבל יש להם כסף לארוחות צהרים לילדים, בעוד מערכת החינוך הרגילה מחורבנת.
יש לנו המון כסף. והאמריקאים שנים ממשיכים לתת לנו דמי כיס ולעשות לנו נעים. אבל העובדה היא שזה לרעתנו. כי מרוב שהיה לנו נוח, לא ראינו כמה נהיה פה לא נוח. כמה מעט נשאר בסוף מהעוגה לאנשים רגילים שהולכים לעבוד, משלמים מסים, ולא סוגרים את החודש.
אז כן, זה מאד פוליטי. בחרתם את ביבי לראשות הממשלה, אז ברור שהפתרונות שהוא יציע לכם הם פתרונות של שוק חופשי. בחרתם ימין חזק מול החמאס, אל תתפלאו שכסף נשפך לשכונות מאד פוליטיות במזרח ירושלים, וכמעט אף בנין לא נבנה באיזור חיוג 03 מטעם המדינה. הגיע הזמן להחליט מה אתם רוצים, ולהודות בפני עצמכם שיש קשר, שהכל קשור. אי אפשר לבנות מערכות נגד טילים ולייזרים לחלל וכבישים לכל התנחלות, ולצפות שיהיה פה נוח לכולם. שלום עולה פחות ממלחמה. השקעה בתשתיות בתוך הקו הירוק עוזרת לנו יותר מכבישים להתנחלויות של חמישה אנשים. ממשלה ימנית ליבראלית לא עושה פתרונות סוציאליים.
לצאת לרחובות זה מדהים. זה אומר שהתחלנו לקחת אחריות על מה שקורה פה והפסקנו לומר שאין מה לעשות. עכשיו רק נשאר להסתכל בראי ולהבין שהכל קשור. כן. הכל קשור.

Everything is connected!
This Saturday, before the big demonstration, I saw an item on the news about the leaders of the various campaigns meeting. The tent folks, the gas folks, the cheese group. They tried to find some common ground, and failed. A girl there said that if she asked the folks in the tents that are there against the prices of houses to march about gas prices, they will get angry and leave, because that is not what they came for.
It broke my heart, but since things seem to have changed. People seem to have got it, that it is all connected. It all has to do with the government leaving the middle class (and of course anyone making even less) behind. That was done in favor of a few select groups that are getting obscenely rich here.
But even those folks that are now saying they are protesting the cost of living, or for a more social state, are trying to keep this fight non-political. Forget the fact that I am unsure what the hell that means, it is just plain wrong. Folks, it is time to tell the truth to ourselves.
When you vote for a right-wing liberal government, do not be surprised that they aim for a free market, and sit and wait for the riches to trickle down to the masses. You just sit there and wait for it to trickle. Do not be shocked that they suggest solutions such as privatization, free market and not a state led housing project.
But even that is going half way. For so many years the priorities here have been screwed up. We are not short on money here. We have tons of money. That is the main reason it took so long for people to go to the streets. We just felt too comfy while the govt gave our natural resources away to the Ofer family. We were snugly and warm when each year over 70 Billion NIS go to defense. We are cozy, while over 60 Billion NIS were poured into settlements in the occupied territories since '67. We laid back while we let a whole sector of religious people not work, and therefore get money from us, while decreasing the national income. We said nothing while thousand of houses were built in the settlements, instead of funding libraries in Kiriyat Shmone, or paying our social workers more than pennies for their blesses work.
I am sorry I am making it hard for you. You prefer to be "non-political" in such a struggle, leaving place in your tents for right wing voters and religious people. Are they flocking in yet? But the sad truth is that it is extremely political. It is a political decision where to spend our money. When you build houses in Ariel, you are not building them for young couples in Tel Aviv. When you are funding an entire sector that will not work, but get paid to study the Torah, smart, fit people (that in Brooklyn would be working) are not working, and there is less for everyone. I am sorry to aim so many arrows at the religious community, but they are an easy example. Might as well ask why we are funding so many schools so well they can afford a warm lunch while not teaching any math or skills that help you get a job, while public education is so fucked up.
We have tons of money here. And the good old USA keeps giving us more pocket money, making things even more comfortable here. Still so little is left at the end of the day for the simple folks that just go to work, pay taxes, and barely see any month at the end of the money.
So yes. it is very political. You elected Netanyahu to be PM, so obviously he will suggest you go and screw yourself with an open market.You chose a strong right wing government to face Hamas, so why be surprised the money goes to houses in east Jerusalem and nothing is done near Tel Aviv? We all need to decide what it is we want, and admit that this is all connected. You cannot pour money in those places, and expect everything to be shiny here. It is simple math. Peace costs less than war. A right wing prliament does not initiate social projects.
Going out into the streets is amazing. It means we as a people have woken up from a long sleep and are taking responsibility for what is happening here. We are no longer sighing and saying "What can you do?". Now we just need to look at ourselves in the mirror and understand that it is all connected.
